Former National Chicken Council President Arrested for Domestic Violence

The president of the National Chicken Council, Michael Brown, recently escaped. Now he could end up in jail.

On June 17, the NCC announced that Brown would step down after 13 years in office. What the Publication did not mention was that Brown had been arrested ten days earlier in Florida for attacking his wife.

Shortly after midnight on June 7, a Collier County patrol officer responded to a domestic dispute at the Ritz Carlton in Naples. When he arrived at the scene, the officer found Brown with a hotel security officer.

Brown told the officer that his wife had attacked him during an argument, but he did not want to press charges. The officer noticed two scratch marks with dried blood on Brown’s arm.

According to the officer’s arrest report, Brown’s wife told a different story. She told the officer that she grabbed Brown’s phone from the nightstand as the two were getting into bed. According to her statement, Brown jumped out of bed, lunged at her, and knocked her to the floor. Then, she claims, he approached her, put his weight on her, and began scratching her face and legs while demanding the phone. She says she had already thrown it into another part of the room.

After speaking with the woman, the officer returned to Brown to question him further. Brown stated that his wife ripped off his necklace and slammed a door on his fingers. He admitted to grabbing his wife, but said he only did so after she took his phone from him and threw it against the wall.

The officer found that the phone was undamaged and Brown had no injuries consistent with his statement. However, his wife had red marks under one eye and fresh scratches on both legs. Based on the evidence, the officer arrested Brown at the scene.

So far, representatives of the National Chicken Council have not commented on Brown or the timing of his abrupt resignation.

Brown was charged with assault – touching or striking another person against their will. He was released from jail on bail the same day and is scheduled to appear in court on July 3.
