Man who died in car crash on Percival Road identified

RICHLAND COUNTY, SC — Richland County Coroner Naida Rutherford has identified the victim of a car crash on Percival Road on Monday, June 17.

According to South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) Master Trooper Gary Miller, at approximately 3:50 p.m., a 2001 Jeep Cherokee traveling west on Percival near the Quail Run Apartments collided with a 2010 Nissan Maxima attempting to make a left turn onto Percival from a private driveway.

The driver of the Nissan, Fredrick O. Gordon, 38, of Columbia, died from his injuries. Two passengers in the Nissan were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and the driver of the Jeep was uninjured.

SCHP and the Richland County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate this incident.
