12-year-old boy from rural Louisville killed in side-by-side crash

A 12-year-old Louisville-area boy has died from injuries sustained in a side-by-side crash in the rural Sailor Springs area Friday evening.

The boy is identified as Caide Weidner.

State police said he was thrown from a side-by-side vehicle while traveling on Bucktown Lane three miles east of Sailor Springs. He was taken to Clay County Hospital in Flora and then flown by rescue helicopter to Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, where he died late Sunday afternoon.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday morning at Red Brush Christian Church in rural Louisville. Viewing will be available Friday evening from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday morning from 9 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, donations in Caide’s memory may be made to the North Clay FFA chapter.

His obituary states that Caide loved farming and working with machinery, hunting and fishing, playing video games, boating and the joy of making people smile.

The Clay City Fire Department, County Sheriff’s Department and Clay County EMS responded to the scene.
