Four dead in car-bus collision in northern Greece


Four people were killed in a head-on collision between a car and a bus on a country road in Xanthi, northern Greece, early Sunday.

According to the local website xanthinews.gr, the car was travelling from Xanthi towards Kavala when, under unclear circumstances, it crossed into the oncoming lane and collided with the bus. The impact completely destroyed the car.

Rescue workers recovered the bodies of the four victims from the car; a fifth passenger was taken to hospital with skull injuries.

The victims, two women and two men aged between 20 and 25, died instantly. The bus, which was transporting employees of a local company, also went off the road. Six people were injured.

The injured were taken to Xanthi Hospital for treatment.
