Karnataka calls for re-testing NEET and examination | Bengaluru News

MYSURU/BENGALURU: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday asked the central government to thoroughly investigate the allegations of rigging of the results of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – Undergraduate (NEET-UG) 2024. He called for a re-examination in the interest of the students of the state.

“There are suspicions all over the country of massive irregularities in the results of NEET, the entrance exam for medical courses. Students are being treated unfairly. Many have been placed in certain ranks, which is a great injustice to those who have worked hard. Students who have passed should not be given grace marks. Re-examinations should be conducted because students should not be treated unfairly,” he told the media.

Since the release of the NEET-UG exam results on June 4, numerous allegations of irregularities, malpractice, paper leaks and excessive minimums have surfaced, raising concerns among candidates and the public. Several petitions have been filed in the Supreme Court demanding a re-examination and investigation.

“BJP revels in vindictive politics’

Siddaramaiah denied allegations by BJP and JD(S) that his government was pursuing a vindictive policy, especially after an arrest warrant was issued against former chief minister BS Yediyurappa in the Pocso case.

“When they (BJP) levelled charges against us, was it not targeted? Charges were levelled against me, against DK Shivakumar (deputy chief minister) and Rahul Gandhi (Congress leader), what can you call it? They had cancelled Rahul Gandhi’s membership (of the Lok Sabha). Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was sent to jail. Should you call this hate politics or love politics? I have not done this so far. I did not enter politics yesterday or today. It (vindictive politics) is the job of the BJP,” he alleged. The chief minister also said the government would conduct the local body elections. “They will be conducted if the government decides,” he said.
