Boating accident in Charleston County leads to death of boater

CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) – The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources is investigating the death of a boater in Charleston County. The agency’s officers and investigators were called to a single-boat accident that occurred near the James Island Connector Friday evening.

Initial findings suggest that his boat probably hit a day marker, a visual aid that is only visible during the day and helps sailors navigate.

According to official reports, the boat driver succumbed to his injuries.

The identity of the boat driver has not yet been released.
