Friends of a woman attacked near the canals of Venice meet for a candlelight vigil

Friends of Sarah Alden, one of two women attacked, sexually assaulted and beaten near the canals of Venice more than two months ago, gathered for a candlelight vigil Thursday evening.

Alden, 53, had been in a coma since the April 6 attack and was declared brain dead last month. Friends said life support was taken off May 24 after her organs were removed for donation.

The candlelight vigil took place in the canal area and included a violin performance on a boat.
