Wake for 13-year-old who died in Harrison crash

The city of Harrison mourned the death of 13-year-old Mark Anthony Giordano at a wake Thursday.

According to investigators, Giordano was riding an electric bike with friends on the top floor of the parking garage when he lost control, was thrown over the edge and fell five stories. He was taken to the hospital but could not be saved.

Giordano’s classmates left notes and flowers in the garage in memory of the boy, who is remembered as a kind, sweet boy and an outstanding athlete who played football and wrestled in high school.

“He had the most potential of anyone in the whole class,” said classmate Gabriel Amaril. “He was on the varsity football team and a really good wrestler.”

Giordano was scheduled to graduate from Lewis M. Klein Middle School in just over a week.

The wake was held at McMahon Funeral Home. His funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at St. Gregory’s Church in Harrison.
