12-year-old shot in ATV accident in Holmes County, Ohio

HOLMES COUNTY, Ohio (WJW) – The Holmes County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the shooting of a 12-year-old boy.

It happened just before 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, in Clark Township.


According to the sheriff’s office, a 12-year-old was riding a quad bike with a single-shot rifle.

As the boy drove through a field, the rifle fell from the ATV and came loose.

The boy was shot with a small-caliber, single-shot, repeating rimfire rifle, the sheriff said.

“The bullet entered his chest and then exited through his shoulder, causing only a single wound,” the sheriff said.

The boy was conscious and awake when first responders arrived.

He was taken to hospital. There is no current information about his condition.
