Louis Oosthuizen replaced by Wade Ormsby at LIV Golf Houston

Louis Oosthuizen was replaced by Wade Ormsby at LIV Golf Houston after withdrawing due to injury before the second round.

The Stinger GC captain posted a three-under score in the first round to leave him behind overnight leader Martin Kaymer. However, any hopes he had of continuing to challenge for a maiden LIV Golf title ended after he woke up Saturday morning with the problem.

In a video posted on the official Stinger GC I didn’t wake up feeling good and I tried everything and I won’t be able to walk around and swing today, so one of those things, but I’ll see you in Nashville.

The withdrawal will be frustrating for Oosthuizen as he is having an impressive season on the big money circuit. The South African has twice been a finalist among three top 10 finishes in the first seven events of the season, while he is currently seventh on LIV Golf’s money list with earnings of over $5.6 million. dollars so far.

As for his replacement, Ormsby has competed in all seven of LIV Golf’s regular events in the inaugural 2022 season with a best finish of 23rd in the opening match at the Centurion Club in London. However, he was one of seven players ruled out for the start of the second season, but was retained as a reserve.

The Australian also spoke about his desire to return to a full-time playing contract with LIV Golf. Ahead of the 2023 Hong Kong Open on the Asian Tour, he said: “I had the chance to play the first season on LIV, and the events are amazing. Being alongside the best golfers in the world, week in and week out, is pretty special and it’s something I want to get back to.”

Ormsby will hope to put on an impressive showing at The Golf Club of Houston as he attempts to help Stinger GC climb the rankings with temporary teammates Branden Grace, Charl Schwartzel and Dean Burmester.

Stinger GC is currently fifth in the overall team standings for the season.
