Woman threatens Dunkin’ employees in Maine with gun after not being allowed in to make phone call, police say

A Maine woman was arrested after pointing a semi-automatic weapon at Dunkin’ employees after she was denied entry into the gated premises to make a phone call, police said.Rumford, Maine, police said police responded to the Dunkin’ on Congress Street after 8 p.m. Wednesday because 911 received a report of a woman with a gun threatening an employee. A Maine woman was arrested after pointing a semi-automatic weapon at Dunkin’ employees after they were denied access to the closed premises to make phone calls, police said.

Police in Rumford, Maine, said they were called to a Dunkin’ on Congress Street after 8 p.m. Wednesday for a report to 911 that a woman with a gun was threatening an employee.

The person said the woman went to the drive-thru window after closing time and pointed a semi-automatic weapon at the employee after she was denied access to the restricted area to make a phone call, police said.

The woman was identified as Rebecca Sims, 33, of Mexico, Maine, police said.

On Thursday morning, the Maine State Police tactical team surrounded her home and ordered her to leave at gunpoint. She was then arrested, police said.

Police searched the home and seized four firearms, including a semi-automatic pistol believed to have been used in the crime. They also found several loaded magazines, a hatchet, a Bowie knife and a machete, police said.

Sims was charged with serious crimes including threatening with a dangerous weapon and threatening to display a weapon, police said.
