Gage Sell arrested on warrants and weapons possession after illegally turning in front of Liberty police officer

LIBERTY, Ohio (WKBN) — A Youngstown man who reportedly turned himself in to a police officer Friday night spent the weekend in the Trumbull County Jail.

Gage Sell, 23, was charged with illegal possession of a weapon (a third-degree felony) and possession of drug paraphernalia (a fourth-degree misdemeanor) after the car he was driving was stopped on Gypsy Lane at the State Route 711 underpass at around 9:10 p.m.


According to reports, a car driven by Sell turned in front of a police officer on Belmont Avenue and then continued south on Gypsy Lane. When the officer turned on his headlights to stop the car, the car stopped in the middle of the road and then pulled over to the side of the road.

The officer reportedly recognized Sell, who has multiple warrants for his arrest, and Sell told police he had a gun. When he was taken out of the car, police found a loaded 9mm semi-automatic pistol in his waistband, reports said.

When police searched the car Sell was driving, they found a straw that was believed to have drug residue on it, reports said.

Sell ​​is not allowed to possess a gun because he is facing other charges pending in Girard Municipal Court.
