Car club mourns member killed in double homicide in Saline County

CONWAY, Ark. – Members of an Arkansas car club are mourning the loss of one of their members following a double murder in Saline County Saturday evening.

According to the Saline County Sheriff’s Office, 38-year-old Brittany Taylor and 40-year-old David Taylor were killed Saturday evening.

David Taylor was a member of the Arkansas Honda Car Club and club members like Stefan Battles are mourning the loss of a friend.

“I met David at a car meet about six years ago,” Battles said.

Battles remembers Taylor’s smile and words of encouragement as he made new improvements to his cars.

“He would say, ‘Well done, keep doing what you’ve been doing great,'” Battles said.

He said Taylor left a legacy at the car club where everyone counts.

“No matter who you were, what you looked like, what car you had, if you didn’t know him, you could still approach him,” Battles said. “You can shake his hand. He would greet you with a smile.”

He said Taylor has mentored many on the Facebook community page and at their car shows where they meet each month.

However, this month’s meeting will be different without him.

“This meeting will simply be for us to come together and remember who he was,” Battles said.

He said the saddest thing was not seeing Taylor’s car pull into the parking lot, a car by which everyone knew him.

“You’d see a gray Prelude with orange wheels and everyone would say, ‘That’s David,'” Battles said.

Battles said the loss of a mentor hit him hard, as David Taylor and his wife Brittany Taylor leave behind five children.

“As a father myself, I can imagine what his children are going through,” Battles said. “I hope for the best future for them because I know it’s difficult.”

According to investigators, 37-year-old Bryan Reed was arrested in connection with the incident.
