Speed ​​is to blame for Lyon County crash that killed Silver Springs man

LYON COUNTY, Nev. (KOLO) – Nevada State Police blame speeding for an April crash that killed a Silver Springs man.

On April 24 at approximately 11:00 p.m., Nevada State Police responded to an accident on US95A at the intersection with US50 in Lyon County.

Their initial investigation revealed that a silver 2009 Ford Fusion was traveling north on US95A approaching a roundabout that intersects US50. The Ford was traveling too fast for the conditions and the driver struck the decorative bricks in the center of the roundabout.

The Ford continued west on the opposite lane of the roundabout and US50, into the northbound lane of US95A, then turned and came to a stop heading south.

The driver of the Ford, identified as 84-year-old Rogers Heinrichs Jr. of Silver Springs, was taken to the hospital by medical helicopter and died of his injuries on May 7.
