Atlanta holds hearing for violation of Woodland Heights conditions

The hearing is scheduled to take place in municipal court on May 29 at 9 a.m.

ATLANTA — The video above is from previous coverage.

After multiple complaints from residents about unlivable conditions at the Woodland Heights Apartments, the city of Atlanta is holding the complex responsible.

On Wednesday, the city will hold a civil violation hearing in municipal court after the complex was recently found “in violation of the Atlanta Housing Code.”

Several residents previously told 11Alive that they experienced multiple problems, such as mold, rat infestations and inoperable appliances, while living in the complex at 2500 Center Street NW — without much help from the direction.

“We have mold in the house. We have sewer problems. If you complain, management won’t do much,” one resident told 11Alive over the weekend.

The apartment complex is managed by FPI Management, which, according to its website, operates more than 160,000 properties. 11Alive attempted to contact the management company twice with no response.

If the city finds the complex to be in violation, it will be forced to make “abatements” to the property or face a $1,000 fine for each day of non-compliance.
