Red Dead Redemption 3 should face a major RDR2 challenge

Highlights

  • Red Dead Redemption 2 exceeds all expectations with a 50+ hour long campaign and hundreds of side activities for hardcore fans to enjoy.
  • Getting the platinum trophy in RDR2 is notoriously challenging, requiring 240-300 hours to complete all activities 100% of the time.
  • When Red Dead Redemption 3 releases, it should offer a balanced platinum journey with frequent rewards that go beyond just seeing everything.

The first Red Dead Redemption was a huge game, at least by 2010 standards. While the open-world genre (in its modern and most popular form) had already existed for almost a decade by that point, Red Dead Redemption still pushed the boundaries of what players thought was possible from the genre, delivering a long 30-hour story set against the backdrop of a vast open world in the Wild West. But eight years later Red Dead Redemption 2 would exceed expectations.

In the years between the first and the second Red Dead Redemption Games, the open world genre continued to grow, both in size and popularity. Even with such strong competition, Red Dead Redemption 2 broke new ground for the genre. With a 50+ hour long campaign, hundreds of side activities ranging from handcrafted missions to mini-games, and enough Easter eggs to keep fans busy for years, Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the densest and most comprehensive games ever made, and only the most die-hard fans have seen everything the game has to offer. But it is these die-hard fans who Red Dead Redemption 3 should reward.

Red Dead Redemption 3’s platinum trophy should be challenging but rewarding

Platinum in Red Dead Redemption 2 is notoriously tricky

Although it only has a difficulty rating of 6/10 on the prestigious platinum trophy hunting guide website PowerPyx, Red Dead Redemption 2 is widely known as one of the most challenging games to reach 100%. This is mainly due to the sheer amount of activities the player must complete to reach that 100% milestone. Back to PowerPyx: Red Dead Redemption 2The Platinum Journey can take between 240 and 300 hours to complete, with the single-player content alone taking at least 200 hours.

Every Stranger mission, collectible, missable side quest, challenge, fossil and animal must be carefully saved, completed and logged by the player. It is definitely not for the faint of heart, but the Red Dead Redemption 2 The journey to Platinum can really feel incredibly rewarding. This Platinum trophy forces players to see absolutely everything that Red Dead Redemption 2 has to offer, and for die-hard fans of the game, it’s a good reason to continue living in this world for as long as possible.

Red Dead Redemption 3 needs to strike a careful balance with its own platinum trophy

Although its existence has not been confirmed and any possible revelation is probably many years away, Red Dead Redemption 3 is probably inevitable, considering how popular the series is and how successful the last two parts were. And if Red Dead Redemption 3 comes, it can be assumed that it will be as big, if not bigger, than Red Dead 2And that could mean that the path to 100 percent completion will become even more challenging.

If Red Dead Redemption 3 ends up being an even bigger juggernaut than its already huge predecessor, then its even longer platinum journey should offer more frequent rewards than the feeling of simply having seen everything the game has to offer. For example, if Red Dead 3 Since Phantom has an online mode, it might be fun to reward players with exclusive skins or avatars based on certain milestones on the way to the Platinum tier, such as a unique trapper skin for hunting every animal in the game or a sheriff outfit for completing all optional bounty hunts.
