The media knew the truth about Samuel Alito Flag and still attacked him

As if we needed more examples of how major media outlets deliberately use disinformation to further their political goals, the story of Judge Samuel Alito’s flag is perhaps one of the best.

The once respected New York Times published an article on May 16 with a fitting headline: “There is a ‘Stop the Steal’ symbol in Judge Alito’s home.” Scary, isn’t it?

Worse still, that flag, an American flag flown upside down, was flown while – *gasp* – the Supreme Court was hearing a case about the 2020 election. For left-wing media and their ideological allies, there couldn’t be a greater offense.

And indeed, a group of radical left senators immediately demanded a meeting with Chief Justice John Roberts, demanded that Alito recuse himself from all cases involving Trump, and renewed their calls for the Supreme Court to be expanded and staffed to ensure that it would never again rule against the Democrats.

Other media outlets followed suit and then began redesigning another flag associated with Alito, the one flown during the American Revolution as a, *gasp* symbol of Christian nationalism. You could almost hear the beads being clutched through the screen.

However, it turns out that The Washington Post had already investigated the upside-down American flag that sparked the hypocritical moral panic in January 2021. The reporter spoke to Alito’s wife, Martha-Ann, who said it was “an international distress signal” and “suggested it had been raised in response to a neighborhood dispute,” according to an article published Saturday.

So the Washington Post knew there was nothing to report about the flag or Alito, that his wife had put up the article because of a neighborhood dispute, and that it had nothing to do with January 6. But they never revealed it – until now, after the Times posted misinformation about nothing to outrage the political left.

Sounds right.

New York Times and other media outlets allow disinformation to achieve their goals

It would be logical that after publishing its article refuting the Times’ original report, the Post would rush to set the record straight, apologize for spreading misinformation, and issue a mea culpa. Instead, there was silence. Not that it matters.

The work is done, the misinformation is now the supposed truth in the minds of the political left. As is often the case, the most left-wing media outlets like the Times will likely just issue generic platitudes like “we stand by our reporting,” ignoring the damage they have done by spreading a lie.

At the same time, he is demanding that former President Donald Trump be silenced for speaking out against a judge who made an egregious attack on the independent judiciary. Attacking judges is apparently perfectly acceptable, as long as they do it while enjoying the undeserved superiority they enjoy because they have the “right” progressive credentials.

Not to mention the aforementioned hypocrisy of those politicians who immediately called for Alito’s recusal, ignoring the fact that liberal heroine and Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg had publicly criticized Trump when discussing his tax returns. Yet none of the Senate Democrats who are so morally outraged by Alito’s nonexistent misdeeds ever called for Ginsburg’s recusal in cases involving Trump.

Funny how this works, isn’t it?

Nor do they criticize Justice Sonya Sotomayor, who said in a recent speech at Harvard, “There are days when I would come into my office after a case was announced, close the door behind me, and cry.” She seems to be a balanced person, capable of making objective decisions based on precedent and constitutional interpretation.

This whole incident is a perfect example of how left-wing media works to create a false story that serves their agenda and then refuses to correct their misinformation after the truth comes out. Their work is done, the false story is now perceived as the truth. It will be interesting to see who they inaccurately and hypocritically attack next.
