A crash in Oak Forest left one person dead on I-57 at 167th Street; The southbound lanes were closed in the area, Illinois State Police said.

OAK FOREST, Ill. (WLS) – One person died in a crash in Chicago’s south suburbs Tuesday morning, Illinois State Police said.

A vehicle traveling south on Interstate 57 at 167th Street in Oak Forest shortly before 11 a.m. lost control, struck the right guardrail and overturned, police said.

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

All southbound lanes of I-57 are closed due to a crash investigation.

Police could not immediately identify the deceased driver or say what led to the accident.
