Reckless DUI suspect arrested in Orange County after high-speed chase

A reckless driver suspected of being under the influence of alcohol was arrested Tuesday night after a high-speed chase that spanned LA and Orange County.

Officers from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s East LA Station initiated the pursuit, but soon requested California Highway Patrol officers to take over the pursuit.

The suspect led officers on a chase through country roads before getting onto the eastbound 60 Freeway near the 605 interchange shortly after the pursuit began.

Safety concerns led both agencies to briefly call off the pursuit while aerial surveillance monitored the suspect, who was driving in the southbound lanes of the 15 Freeway before crossing onto the 91.

CHP officers arrested the suspect again on the 91 Freeway and eventually used a nail tape in Anaheim, damaging the driver’s passenger tire.

The suspect exited the 91 Freeway at South Raymond Avenue in Anaheim and surrendered.
