Funeral honoring fallen officer Sam Poloche

Poloche was a 14-year veteran of the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction. He joined NCDAC’s Special Operations and Intelligence Unit in 2013. Poloche was a full-time member of the U.S. Marshals Carolinas Regional Task Force.

Poloche leaves behind his wife and two children.

“This loss is profound,” Gov. Roy Cooper said last week, calling the officers killed in the shooting “heroes who will not be forgotten.”

A memorial service will be held Monday afternoon at First Baptist Church in Uptown. Poloche’s celebration of life is scheduled for 1 p.m., with a private funeral in Monroe following the service.

WCNC Charlotte will cover the caisson procession accompanying Poloche to the church at 12:30 p.m. There will be no live broadcast of the memorial service as the family has requested privacy.
