State Police Investigators Investigate Homicide in Wilmington – Delaware State Police

Delaware State Police are investigating a homicide that occurred in the Concord Mall parking lot Saturday evening that left one teenager dead and another sent to the hospital.

On May 11, 2024, at approximately 10:45 p.m., officers responded to a shooting in the parking lot of Concord Mall, 4737 Concord Pike in Wilmington. When officers arrived, they discovered two teenagers had been shot and began life-saving measures. The victims were taken to a local hospital where a 16-year-old male was pronounced dead and a 17-year-old male remains in serious condition.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a fight occurred between several people near the entrance to a carnival that was located in the parking lot. It turned out that during the fight, an unknown suspect pulled out a gun and fired several shots, hitting the two teenagers. The suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction.

Homicide detectives are actively investigating this incident. Detectives ask anyone with information about this case to contact Detective B. McDerby at 302-741-2729.
