1 dead after collision with mast and fire in northern Phoenix

The incident was reported Friday morning near Sweetwater and 35th Avenue in north Phoenix.

PHOENIX – One person was killed in a car crash involving a burning car Friday morning in north Phoenix.

Phoenix police officers were dispatched to Sweetwater and 35th Avenue around 6 a.m. for a report of a serious accident. Upon arrival, they found a woman outside a burning vehicle that had struck a large pole.

Police said the woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries. After the car fire was extinguished, an unidentified passenger was found inside. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The deceased person has not yet been identified and the accident remains under investigation.
