Broome County jury finds Binghamton man guilty of raping child

A Binghamton man with previous capital crimes faces life in prison after a jury found him guilty this week of raping a minor.

After a trial in Broome District Court, the jury convicted 41-year-old Willis Bickham Jr. of first-degree rape, a felony, as well as minor offenses including sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

On June 24, 2023, Bickham took a 12-year-old girl to an apartment at 2 Green Street in Binghamton and had sexual intercourse with her, prosecutors said.

Bickham’s sentencing is scheduled for October 24. He faces up to 25 years in prison for the rape and 10 to 25 years of probation after release.
