Man wanted by Walnut Creek police arrested for assault in Las Vegas

Walnut Creek police said a man who allegedly hit someone with a gun in March was arrested in Las Vegas and is in the Contra Costa County Jail.

Police responded to a reported disturbance in the 1500 block of North Main Street just after 12:30 a.m. March 2. Arriving officers found a man on the ground with a head wound.

They discovered that the man had been hit with the butt of a rifle by someone who had fled the scene before their arrival.

Police identified the suspect as Malcom Harris, 28, of Suisun City and issued an arrest warrant for him.

Harris was arrested on April 9 in Las Vegas on the outstanding warrant and was transported to the Martinez Detention Center on April 19, where he remains in custody.

He is charged with assault with a machine gun or offensive weapon, possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of an offensive weapon.
