Two Metro Atlanta Starbucks Stores Join More Than 400 Stores in Unionizing – WABE

Last week, Starbucks workers in Alpharetta and Roswell won a victory that was years in the making.

Workers at the North Point and Haynes Bridge locations voted 14-0 Sunday to join Starbucks Workers United, a union that represents 10,500 baristas at 460 stores. Workers at Holcomb Bridge and Holcomb Way also voted 12-2 to unionize, according to Union X.

According to a press release issued Monday, Starbucks Workers United is uniting stores “to achieve workplace justice, including protections on fundamental issues like respect, a living wage, racial and gender equity, and fair hours.”

Since Starbucks locations began unionizing in 2021, unionized stores now span 44 states and the District of Columbia, making it the company with the most successful store unionizations of the 21st century, according to the union.

“We are very excited to be a union store!” Erica Dunn, a three-year shift supervisor at one of Starbucks’ Alpharetta locations, said in Monday’s news release. “I can’t wait to reopen our store so we can enjoy going to work again.”

“I’m so excited and happy for my team!” barista Jenn Wray added in the press release. “We’re all in this together and this will only make us stronger!”

Other Starbucks partners that won union elections in the past month include stores in Miami, Seattle, Dallas and New York.
