HPD Officer Injured During Pursuit of Armed Robbery Suspect on Washington Avenue

HOUSTON (KIAH) – A theft was reported at a CVS pharmacy located in 5401 Washington Avenue Around 3 a.m. on Thursday, July 18, Houston Police Department (HPD) officers arrived to find two black men wearing hoodies and masks. The two men were reportedly trying to take money from the registers.

The two suspects fled on foot, but were followed to their vehicle by police officers who were able to arrest one of the men. However, the second suspect was able to flee the scene in the vehicle and struck a police officer in the leg in the process.

The driver of the vehicle eventually crashed and fled on foot. HPD police have set up a search perimeter to locate the suspect. The investigation is ongoing.

The injured officer was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital in stable condition.
