NFL Analyst Says Bills Need to Answer This Question in 2024

The story of the Buffalo Bills’ offseason has been one of change.

Buffalo added six receivers after releasing Deonte Harty, opting not to pursue Gabe Davis or Trent Sherfield in free agency and trading Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans. Their reinforcements include second-round pick Keon Coleman, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Curtis Samuel, Chase Claypool, Mack Hollins and KJ Hamler.

And while one could argue that the Bills actually have more depth at receiver this season, CBS Sports’ Bryan DeArdo says Buffalo’s top priority should be figuring out the pecking order of their new receiving corps.

“Khalil Shakir enters camp as the only Bills player to have caught a pass from quarterback Josh Allen in a game,” DeArdo wrote. “Given that fact, it’s safe to say the focus will be on Allen’s development with his revamped receiving corps.” “No, Allen doesn’t have much experience with Buffalo’s receiving corps. But the positive is that the unit has a lot of potential. Rookie Keon Coleman looks like a future star, while Shakir and newcomer Curtis Samuel are solid complementary pieces. Projected backups Mack Hollins and Marquez Valdes-Scantling are proven veterans, the latter of whom won back-to-back Super Bowls with the Chiefs. There have even been encouraging reports about Chase Claypool, but I’ll take that with a grain of salt.”

The receiver position and the battles that take place there will be one of the main focal points for fans to watch throughout training camp and the preseason.
