Monday and Tuesday have been declared First Alert Weather Days due to high temperatures and possible severe weather.

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Today is the 12th day of temperatures of 90 degrees or higher in our region, and there are likely to be even more as the new work week begins tomorrow and Tuesday.

Average high: 83° | Average low: 64°

FIRST WARNING: First weather warning day for Monday and Tuesday,

CONSCIOUSLY: The heat center will arrive tomorrow and Tuesday. Some strong to severe storms are possible on both days.

Highs will be in the 90s and 95s, nearly 10 degrees above normal. A few isolated storms could move through tonight and early Monday, remnants of a large storm complex currently moving through Ohio. The biggest threat will be gusty winds.

Monday and Tuesday are now both First Alert Weather Days due to the heat and the potential for strong to severe storms. The higher humidity will make it even more uncomfortable, with temperatures feeling like 35 to 40 degrees both days. We’re also watching the potential for showers (which we desperately need in these dry conditions) and some strong to severe thunderstorms popping up Monday afternoon/evening, Tuesday morning, and Tuesday afternoon/evening.

The exact timing is not known, but the conditions are right for possible gusty winds and heavy rain. On both days there is a low risk of severe weather in some places of 1 in 5.

Wednesday will remain warm and humid, but the chance for widespread rain in Western Pennsylvania is higher as a cold front will finally cool us off by Thursday.

It will feel more pleasant until Thursday and for the rest of the week, with significantly lower humidity and highs around 27 degrees!
