2 shots, 1 dead in Manhattan – NBC New York

According to police, two people were shot in broad daylight in Tompkins Square Park in Manhattan on Friday, triggering a series of emergency calls in the morning.

Officers responding to a 911 call about a shooting at the corner of East Seventh Street and Avenue A found a 74-year-old man and a 44-year-old man injured, the NYPD said. The 74-year-old man later died.

The 44-year-old is expected to survive. The nature of his injuries was initially unclear.

A video posted on the Citizen app showed a massive police deployment in the area on Friday afternoon.

No arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
