Man attacked with ax in Fort Worth – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

With cuts to his arm and around ten staples in his head, a man is still in shock after being attacked with an ax by a woman.

Fort Worth police said they were called to a Whataburger restaurant at 1425 Eastchase Parkway after midnight and found a man who had been struck in the head with an ax.

The victim told NBC 5 he wanted to share his story but did not want to reveal his real name. Using the name “School,” the man said he was an employee at the restaurant and had visited a nearby supermarket and e-cigarette store on Meadowbrook Drive before his shift.

During his break, School said he went back into the store to look for his phone. School said he was talking to another man about it when a woman who said she was the man’s girlfriend came up to him from behind with an axe.

School said the woman seemed to think he was talking about her, became angry and started swinging her ax and slashing his arm. He said they argued before he was able to escape and go back to work, where someone called police.

He was taken to hospital and treated for his injuries.

“In police work, we see everything,” said Tracy Knight, public information officer for the Fort Worth Police Department.

He called the incident “senseless.”

“For someone to attack someone with an ax is just unimaginable to me,” Knight said.

Knight is asking anyone who may have seen the incident to come forward.

“Again, we shouldn’t see this, but we want to find out who did this to this gentleman and at least talk to them and see what’s going on,” Knight said.

He said they believed it was an isolated incident and there was no danger to the public.

School said he wants people in the area to be aware and be careful.

He said he had seen the couple before – even at his Whataburger – but had never interacted with them until the incident. He still isn’t sure why he was attacked, but said he was grateful to be alive and that his 15-year-old daughter still had her father.
