A man died after being stabbed in the neck outside an apartment complex in Canoga Park, police said.

According to initial reports from the Los Angeles Police Department, officers were called to 7523 Vassar Avenue around 11:20 p.m. on Tuesday and when they arrived they found a man lying in the courtyard of the complex with a stab wound.

The man’s family heard a noise coming from their apartment and came out to find him with a “laceration on his neck,” according to the LAPD.

Despite life-saving measures by first responders, his death was pronounced at the scene of the accident.

George was the father of a little boy, his mother revealed.

Police described the suspect as a Hispanic man in his 20s who was still at large as of 5:30 a.m. Wednesday. It was not immediately clear whether the incident was related to gang violence.

Investigators are currently looking into what led to the stabbing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Los Angeles Police Department.
