A 12-year-old child is killed in a multi-vehicle accident and 9 others are taken to hospital in South Los Angeles

A young girl was killed and nine others were hospitalized in a multi-vehicle accident in South Los Angeles on Friday evening.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, authorities responded to a three-vehicle crash near 630 East Century Blvd. in the Green Meadows neighborhood around 6:20 p.m.


The emergency services found a 12-year-old girl who was pronounced dead at the scene. Nine other people were injured, including six adults and four teenagers.

An adult female driver was trapped in a vehicle and had to be extricated. She was taken to the hospital in moderate condition. All other victims were able to exit the crushed vehicles under their own power, officials said.

Three teenagers were taken to hospital in moderate condition and five adults in acceptable condition.

The cause of the fatal accident is unclear.

Sky5’s footage from the scene showed that the vehicles involved in the accident were badly damaged and that a large police presence had cordoned off the surrounding streets.

The identities of the victims have not been released as the accident is still under investigation.
