Charleston police investigate fatal shooting

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) – Charleston police are on scene investigating a homicide following an early morning shooting that left one person dead.

Police said they heard gunshots and responded to the shooting on Nassau Street between Mary Street and South Street. It happened around 1:20 a.m. Friday.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a person with an apparent gunshot wound.

Charleston County EMS pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

The Charleston County Coroner’s Office has not yet identified the victim.
