Driver killed after accident in Berrien County

BERRIEN TOWNSHIP, Michigan (WOOD) – An Indiana man has died following an early morning crash in Berrien County.

The Berrien County Sheriff’s Office says the accident occurred shortly after midnight on Deans Hill Road near Hochberger Road in Berrien Township.


Investigators believe the driver was traveling northeast and failed to negotiate a curve, causing him to hit the guardrail, leave the roadway and crash into several trees.

The driver was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the accident. He was trapped and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not released the name of the driver, but have stated that he is a 29-year-old man from Laporte, Indiana.

The exact cause of the accident is currently being investigated by the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Accident Reconstruction Unit.
