Victim of fatal accident in Clifton Park identified

CLIFTON PARK, NY (NEWS10)–State police have identified the victim of a fatal crash Wednesday night in Clifton Park. Police said Christopher E. Merritt, 41, of Spring Hill, Florida, was killed when a vehicle struck him on NY 146 near the intersection with US 9.

The accident occurred at 10:23 p.m. when Merritt was crossing the street and was not in a crosswalk. He was struck by two vehicles traveling eastbound, police said. Both cars stopped to call 911 and fully cooperated with the investigation.

Because of the accident, portions of NY 146 and all eastbound lanes between the Fire Road in Clifton Park and US 9 in Halfmoon were closed for approximately four hours while the investigation and reconstruction of the accident were conducted.
