Brightline West is continuing to investigate the scene within Interstate 15

Brightline West provides updates on field survey work in Southern California and Nevada within the proposed rail corridor within the Interstate 15 right-of-way.

The announcement came after Brightline West officials broke ground April 22 in Las Vegas for the country’s first high-speed rail system, which will connect Las Vegas to Southern California.

Field investigation work includes geotechnical drilling and sampling, utility potholes and land surveys.

According to Brightline officials, the work will be conducted primarily during the day, with some work at night to minimize disruption to traffic. In some cases, short-term closures of highway shoulders are necessary.

Drivers should take particular caution when driving through work zones and obey detour signs, speed limits and other signage.

The updated project areas are listed below.

Locations in California, Nevada

I-15 Baker Blvd. Road to Feldstrasse. Day drilling in the drainage ditches near the north and south shoulder of I-15 is scheduled for Monday, May 6 through Friday, May 10 from 6:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m
I-15 Ranchero Road to Oak Hill Road. An overnight closure is scheduled for the northbound outside lane of Ranchero Road on Thursday, May 9, from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m
On Thursday, May 9, a nighttime closure is planned on the outside shoulder of the southbound on-ramp at Oak Hill Road from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m
I-15 Oak Hill Road to SR-215 Interchange. Daily drilling is scheduled on I-15 in the center median and shoulders from Duncan Canyon to the SR-215 Interchange, Wednesday, May 8, from 6:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m
Day drilling is scheduled at Lytle Creek under I-15 from Tuesday, May 7th to Friday, May 10th from 6:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m
I-15 from Oak Hill through Cajon Pass in Devore to SR-215 will have nighttime median and shoulder closures Monday, May 6 through Friday, May 10 from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m planned
I-15 average north of Primm, Nevada (mileposts 5-7). Geotechnical drilling work until Thursday, May 9th, 6:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m

About Brightline West

Brightline West’s 218-mile high-speed rail system will be built in the middle of Interstate-15, with a flagship passenger station in Las Vegas and stops in Apple Valley, Hesperia and its final destination, Rancho Cucamonga.

The Brightline West rail route, which has full environmental clearance, will run in the median of the I-15 freeway with zero crossings.
