Most daring statements from the Atlanta presidential debate: true or not?

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump exchanged countless brutal blows Thursday night during the CNN debate in Atlanta.

Here are some of the debate’s boldest claims, and whether or not they’re true.

Claim: Donald Trump claimed he never called dead American soldiers “pigeons and losers” at a military cemetery.

Fact: Trump’s own chief of staff went on record saying he heard the former president say this.

Claim: President Biden claimed that no American soldiers died during his presidency.

Fact: At least 16 U.S. service members have died overseas while Biden was president, including three soldiers from Georgia who were killed in Jordan earlier this year.

Claim: Trump claimed that some Democratic-run states allow the killing of babies after birth.

Fact: No state in the United States allows abortions or infanticide after the birth of a baby.

Claim: President Biden has claimed that black unemployment under his presidency is lower than it has been in a long time.

Fact: Unemployment among African Americans hit a record low last year at 4.8%, but jumped to 6.1% in May, more than it was during the entire eight months of Trump’s presidency.
