Bam Margera sentenced to six months probation after attacking his brother in 2023

Bam Margera has been sober for nearly a year, which is a huge accomplishment after a turbulent and traumatic few years for him and his family. Although he is in treatment for his drug and alcohol addiction, he still struggles with the consequences of his past behavior.

On Wednesday, June 26, Margera accepted a deal and pleaded guilty to two counts of disorderly conduct stemming from an attack on his brother, Jess Margera, in 2023.

Bam was accused of attacking his brother and threatening other family members during a visit to his family’s Pennsylvania home in April 2023. At the time, Jess said, his brother “pounded and kicked his locked bedroom door, wrote a threatening letter, urinated in the kitchen sink, yelled at him, and hit him in the head.”

According to Jess, Bam threatened to “kill everyone in the house, including her father and two other people.” Bam then fled, disappeared for a while, and then turned himself in to the authorities.

Bam received a six-month suspended sentence and was also subjected to random drug testing. If his drug test is positive, he could face a prison sentence.

Despite the verdict, Bam sees the situation positively and says it was necessary to get clean.

“I had to realize that I was going to continue to go on drinking binges and get into situations that were really not good,” Bam said in an interview after his sentencing, according to ABC 6. “After I’ve served this time, I don’t want to go back to that lifestyle.”

August 1 marks the one-year anniversary of Bam’s sobriety. Jess, who suffered a ruptured eardrum in the 2023 incident, was present at the hearing and stated that he still thinks Bam is “a good guy when he’s not messed up.”
