Lawsuit settled in connection with Tammy Sytch’s fatal car accident

One of the lawsuits filed in connection with Tammy Sytch’s fatal drunk driving accident has been settled. As previously reported, Jane Olivova was set to go to trial in a lawsuit against Geico after she was involved as a passenger in another car in the April 2022 crash that resulted in Sytch being sentenced to 17 years in prison. PWInsider reports that Olivova filed a notice on June 19 indicating that the two parties had come to an agreement and requested a voluntary dismissal of the case. The case is not officially closed yet, it just needs to be signed off by the judge.

Olivova originally filed suit against Sytch, her then-fiancé James Pente, and Geico. In July 2023, she amended the complaint to list only Geico as the defendant. She had sought over $50,000 in damages and the suit was scheduled to go to trial on July 8 in the Circuit Court of Volusia County, Florida.

Sytch still faces a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the family of Julian Lasseter, who died in the crash, with the trial set to begin on October 2.
