Houston Texans’ CJ Stroud Ranked Top 25 Under 25

It’s no secret that the Houston Texans have a star quarterback. Texans second-year quarterback CJ Stroud had one of the best rookie seasons ever, winning Offensive Rookie of the Year.

There are even more expectations surrounding Stroud and the Texans heading into year two. He passed for 4,108 yards and 23 touchdowns, signaling that it’s time to go all-in on building a Super Bowl-contending team.

Adding veteran star talents in wide receiver Stefon Diggs and running back Joe Mixon, the Texans’ addition of talent around Stroud, despite the high cost, proves that the time is right for the young star quarterback.

CBS Sports’ Cody Benjamin listed the NFL’s top 25 players under 25, including Stroud. The Texans quarterback ranked No. 9 among all talents under 25, which is pretty impressive considering he only has one season under his belt compared to, say, Micah Parsons of the Dallas Cowboys, who has three All-Pro selections to his name.

“It’s not just that Stroud was both ultra-efficient and ultra-explosive (8.2 yards per pass attempt) as a rookie; it’s that his unexpected combination of on-field aggression and ball control elevated the rest of a mediocre Texans lineup,” Benjamin wrote. β€œHis size, confidence and pocket passing prowess had future MVP written all over it.”

Stroud has received plenty of praise since his rookie campaign. He had an elite inaugural season in the NFL, helping his team to seven wins and a playoff game.

Heading into his second NFL season, Stroud predicts the Texans will compete for a Super Bowl. Because of this, it can be assumed that Houston will be in contention to win the big game in the coming years, as they have their franchise quarterback.
