Texas lawyer killed while intervening in McDonald’s order dispute; shooter on the loose

A Texas man was shot and killed at a McDonald’s for intervening during a confrontation between a customer and a restaurant employee.

Houston police responded to a shooting at 8147 Katy Freeway on Saturday and found a 46-year-old man unconscious with multiple gunshot wounds.

Emergency services found that the victim had died on the spot, according to police.

The victim was Jeffrey Limmer, a Houston-area attorney, according to local media.

Limmer’s sister told KTRK that her brother was shot and killed while trying to calm down an angry customer upset about his order.

Houston police said in their statement that the preliminary investigation indicated the victim was shot following a verbal disagreement.

The argument between the victim and the suspected shooter escalated when both went outside. According to KTRK detectives, Limmer pushed the customer to the ground.

A short time later, the customer allegedly went to a vehicle and returned, shooting Limmer.

Police say the suspected shooter fled the scene in a blue Ford pickup truck from the early 2000s.

A Houston police spokesperson confirmed to the National Desk Wednesday that the shooter had not been arrested.

Limmer was known for helping others, according to his sister.

“Knowing Jeff, he’s the one who always says, ‘Calm down. It’s not that bad’ and deflects the situation,” Jennifer Thomas told KTVR. “He always wanted to fight for the little guy and do the right thing.”

Police are looking for tips that could help them solve this murder case.

Images of the incident have not been released by authorities.

As the investigation continues, Thomas said she and her family want justice and called her brother a “good Samaritan” who was “trying to do the right thing.”
