NBA superstar named Houston Rockets ‘surprise team’ for 2023-24

The element of surprise can be a huge advantage.

If your opponent is surprised, they won’t be prepared. The Houston Rockets may have exploited this advantage in 2023-24. They had been one of the worst teams in the league, and suddenly they had the veterans to execute a .500 finish.

It seems one of the NBA’s superstars has noticed.

Next season, the Rockets won’t have the element of surprise. The teams will be waiting for them. Will it hurt them?

Time will tell us. If a few young Rockets players make progress, it won’t matter. The element of surprise is nice, but the talent is better.

Regardless, this recognition from George is nice. The Rockets are gaining respect within the NBA. George is one of the most respected veteran voices in the league.

This isn’t the first time he’s expressed his admiration for the Rockets, either.

This has been a topic of discussion for some time.

George is a free agent this summer. As a 3-D winger who can create shots, he would be a great fit for the Rockets – or, realistically, any team looking to compete.

Should the Rockets be interested? It’s a difficult decision. From a financial standpoint, signing George to an expensive long-term contract could make life difficult for the Rockets. By next summer, the team will have to have made decisions on the contract extensions of Alperen Sengun and Jalen Green.

From there it gets even more complicated. The Rockets are loaded with young talent that they will have to pay. Will they have room for George?

This looks like a long shot. Either way, this young team surely benefits from a boost of confidence from a top player like George.

However, given their performance last season, they shouldn’t be surprised.
