Rape: Woman raped in orchard after being lured with cheap mangoes | Varanasi News

Varanasi: Bairia police in Ballia district on Tuesday arrested Ajit Kumar Yadav on charges of raping a woman by luring her to his orchard by offering her cheap mangoes. Bairia inspector Dharmvir Singh said an FIR under Section 376 (rape) of the IPC was filed against Yadav on the woman’s complaint. Police nabbed Yadav from Suremanpur railway station on Tuesday and sent him to jail after producing him before the court, he added. In her complaint, the woman, who hails from a village under Haldi police station area, claimed that Yadav, who hails from Upadhyayapur village under Bairia police station area, met her in the market and learnt that she wanted to buy mangoes. On Monday, Yadav called her and asked her to come to Chiraiyyamod area where mangoes are available at Rs 12 per kg. The woman drove 18 km to Chiraiyamod, where Yadav took her on his motorcycle and took her to an orchard. She alleged that Yadav raped her in a room in the same orchard. When she managed to call the police, she dialled 112, but Yadav fled and abandoned his motorcycle before the police arrived. The police filed a complaint and sent the woman for medical examination.
