Woman dead after shooting in east Pueblo, suspect in custody

PUEBLO – A woman is dead and a suspect is in custody following a shooting Monday afternoon on the east side, according to Pueblo police.

Police say it happened just after 12:30 p.m. on North Erie Avenue, which is near the 4th Street exit of I-25. They also say the woman was dead at the scene.

At approximately 2:30 p.m., police located a suspect driving a stolen vehicle on the south side of Pueblo. After a brief chase, the suspect was arrested. The suspect’s name has not yet been released.

The woman’s name and age will be released at a later date by the Pueblo County Coroner’s Office. Police say this is the 12th homicide in Pueblo this year.
