Bruce Lehrmann arrives at Toowoomba Local Court to face a preliminary hearing on rape charges

Bruce Lehrmann has appeared in court to face a hearing on allegations that he raped a woman in Toowoomba.

The evidence against Lehrmann will be heard during the preliminary inquest in the Toowoomba District Court on Monday.

The hearing will decide whether he will be tried for twice raping a woman in Toowoomba, west of Brisbane, in October 2021.

When he arrived at the court, he was greeted by a media frenzy.

When the case was mentioned previously, he was not required to appear in court.

He did not enter a plea.

The former Liberal Party staffer was named as a defendant in October 2023 when his lawyers’ attempt to maintain a confidentiality order regarding his identity failed after Queensland laws were changed that prevented his name from being released before he was brought to court.
