MSP: Motorcyclist killed in rear-end collision in Calhoun County

TEKONSHA TOWNSHIP, Michigan (WOOD) – A motorcyclist died Sunday afternoon in Calhoun County when he struck a pickup truck, police said.

According to Michigan State Police, a Ford pickup truck was turning off M-60 into a driveway near 18 ½ Mile Road in Tekonsha Township around 3:30 p.m. when a motorcycle struck it from behind.


The motorcyclist, a 67-year-old man from Jackson, was pronounced dead at the scene, MSP said. Police said he was not wearing a helmet.

The driver of the pickup, a 45-year-old Union City woman, and the passenger suffered minor injuries. They were taken to the hospital and later released. Both were wearing helmets, MSP said.

The police do not believe that alcohol played a role in the accident.

M-60 was closed after the crash to allow for the accident to be cleared up and cleared up. The investigation is still ongoing.
