Adult killed, child injured in shooting during football game at Maryland high school: police

Police are still searching for the suspect who escaped from Potomac High School.

Police are continuing to search for a suspect who fled the scene of a Maryland high school football game Saturday morning after opening fire, killing a man in the stands and injuring a child.

The incident occurred around 11:20 a.m. outside Potomac High School in Oxon Hill, Prince George’s County police said. a statement published on Xformerly Twitter.

Officers found the unidentified adult male “with a gunshot wound” and transported him to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, according to PGCPD.

A five-year-old child was also injured in the incident, police said.

“The child was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries,” the PGCPD said in a statement.

Police said the shooting stemmed from an argument during the event, which was a nonprofit fundraiser and not sponsored by the school.

The investigation is ongoing. Investigators are asking anyone with information about the incident to call 1-866-411-TIPS.
