North West child molester sentenced to life imprisonment – SABC News

Police leaders in the North West have welcomed the life sentence handed down to a 21-year-old man convicted of raping a four-year-old girl in Mahikeng.

The man was sentenced by the Mmabatho Regional Court.

Provincial police spokeswoman Amanda Funani said the incident occurred in 2019.

“The neighbors heard the minor crying and called the mother. She was informed that her daughter had been raped. The victim was taken to the local hospital where rape was confirmed. After investigation, the accused was traced and the child was able to identify him as the man who had raped her.

“On Thursday, September 25, 2019, the man was arrested. It was discovered that the accused was on probation at the time of the crime. When sentencing the accused, the court ordered that his name be entered in the National Register of Sex Offenders,” says Funani.
