The closure came late Saturday night pending a Phoenix police investigation. Here are the latest details.

PHOENIX — According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, southbound Interstate 17 at McDowell Road was closed due to a police investigation.

DPS told 12News they are assisting with traffic control for the incident, which is the subject of a Phoenix Police Department investigation and occurred at mile marker 199 (Grant Street).

The closure of southbound I-17 begins at the McDowell Road ramp and results in the ramp from I-10 to I-17 being closed in both directions.

DPS said they do not yet know when the highway will reopen.
