HOB’s buddy Matthews helped out when he was attacked by the patriarchy at AEW

Saturday was the first anniversary of AEW Collision, and to celebrate, the Bang Bang Gang (aka The Collision Cowboys) took on fellow Collision regulars The House of Black in the main event. Towards the end of the match, Buddy Matthews appeared to have injured his knee during a Meteora show against Juice Robinson. When the show returned from the picture-in-picture situation, Matthews was helped to the back. Brody King and Malakai Black continued the match in a 3-on-2 situation and were able to get the win thanks to timely interference from PAC.

After the match, a video of The Patriarchy was shown. Christian Cage congratulated House of Black on becoming the No. 1 contenders for the Unified World Trios Championship, but said, “There’s only one problem, you’re not a trio anymore.” The camera panned down to show a chair in Cage’s hand and Matthews lying on another chair, apparently the victim of a Con-Chair-To. Earlier in the evening, Cage had implied that The Patriarchy would be chasing the Trios Titles themselves. Whether Matthews’ injury is real and how bad it might be, if so, is unknown at the time of this writing, but the segment definitely seemed designed to get Matthews written off AEW programming.
